Product Overview

Our patent-pending SIM Elite training shorts were built from the ground up, adding in only what's needed to help you train smarter. All of our SIM products mimic the effect of our wetsuits by lifting you up in the water. While the SIM Pro mimics the Maverick Pro Fullsuit specifically, the SIM Elite is built to reproduce the effect of wetsuits more generally. The SIM Elite has the same quality construction (glue and blind stitch) as our SIM Pro but has a slightly different material selection and panel layout, which allows us to deliver the SIM concept at a more affordable price point. The SIM Elite has a uniform thickness throughout (5mm).

The SIM Elite hasÊexcellent durability over time if you rinse them with fresh water after use and hang dry them thoroughly (don't use a dryer).

Fit tip: SIM Shorts are neoprene and will loosen slightly in the water. However, they do have a drawcord for adjustment.

Improve Your Technique

The foundation of any swim stroke is body position. Everything else about your stroke Ñ your pull, your kick, your breathing, your timing, your ability to maintain a straight line through the core Ñ isÊdeveloped in the context ofÊyour specific body positionÊover the course of thousands of repetitions in practice. In other words, you will develop different pull technique if you spend the majority of your practice time with a proper horizontal body position than if you practice while struggling to keep your legs afloat. When you race, you get the benefit of a wetsuit to put you in a horizontal position... it follows that you should spend a good deal of practice time in this position to develop your pull, your kick, and other elements of your technique accordingly. Enter the ROKA SIM Elite Ñthis long-needed training tool ensures that even athletes with little swimming background can build their stroke on a foundation of proper body position!

Get the Fastest Body Position

The SIM lifts up your hips just like a wetsuit, putting you in the fastest position possible and helping your body develop the muscle memory you need on race day. Most top wetsuit manufacturers focus on buoyancy alone.Ê Sure, wetsuits help lift you up, but that's not enough Ð and in some cases it can really get in the way of fast swimming. To get the fastest body position, you have to remove buoyancy, mass and resistance from the places you don't want it. With the SIM, we add buoyancy to the hips and legs, creating the fastest position possible.Ê In a pool, this lets you feel what it's like to wear a wetsuit (which stresses your muscles differently) without having to worry about overheating or looking silly.

And Have Fun Doing It!

Let's face it, it's more fun to swim faster! We all like using the training toys that help us go faster in workout, and many of them are very important. The only bummer is that we don't get to race with our toys. ROKA SIM Shorts, on the other hand, let you train faster while actually bringing you closer to your true race day experience!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What is the difference between the SIM Pro and the SIM Elite?

There are 2 main differences:

  1. The Pro is a copy of our Maverick Pro Fullsuit pattern, while the Elite is a copy of our Elite pattern. The Pro uses slightly more flexible material and a slightly nicer liner. Because of this, when an athlete is between sizes we recommend that they size down if they are getting the SIM Pro and size up if they are getting the SIM Elite.
  2. The Pro has rotational speed stripes (RS2) to add centerline buoyancy which helps the suit get out of your way for side-to-side rotation in the water.
  • For more details, see the product pages directly.

Q: Can I wear the SIM in a race?

  • The SIM is considered by USAT rules to be the same as a wetsuit. Therefore, you may wear the SIM in a race where wetsuits are permitted, but you may not wear it in a non-wetsuit race.

Q: Can I wear the SIM in the pool?

  • Yes, absolutely. The SIM was designed for pool swimming. We've never had one returned for chlorine damage either. Just rinse it with fresh water after use and hang dry inside out.

SIM Elite Tech Specs

The SIM Elite has the same quality, time-tested construction as the SIM Pro and our Maverick Wetsuits - glue and blindstitch construction.Ê We offer the same low rise waist with super comfortable folded waistband.Ê The suit has a drawcord to help seal it tightly and to allow you to hang your suit (inside out) to dry.Ê For the SIM Elite, we use Sheico neoprene.Ê Sheico is one of the largest neoprene manufacturers in the world and is used on millions of wetsuits annually, from some of the most well-known surfing wetsuits to many midrange and entry-level triathlon wetsuits.Ê Sheico neoprene is very durable and less susceptible to finger nail tears than some more expensive options.Ê The SIM Elite has a very comfortable jersey liner.

Care Instructions for your SIM Elite

The SIM is a performance product, and like competitive swimsuits, it may deteriorate over time.

We can't control how your pool guy chlorinates the pool, but here are some tips:

  • Rinse in cold fresh water after each use
  • Hang dry thoroughly (you can knot the drawcord and hang it from that, inside out)
  • Do not iron or put in a washer/dryer
  • If you soil the suit, you can hand wash with mild soap or use our wetsuit shampoo.

The liner of the suit may discolor over time, just like a synthetic swimsuit.Ê This should not affect the performance of the fabric.
